The Borders class was a relaxing morning of exploring different tangles as borders. We created a ‘border sampler’ which can be used for future reference to create borders.
A tip when deciding on a border for a piece of art would be to reflect some element of the artwork in the border. This can bring the border into harmony with the art rather than competing with it.
The second part of the class was ‘Embedded letters’. This is a technique described by Maria Thomas from Zentangle Inc in which words or letters are aura’d and embellished. The results were amazing! I love embedded letters – they can be used in such a great variety of ways – in journals, snail mail paper and and envelopes and they make a beautiful decorations for cards and gifts.
